A Trip to Ottenheim Bulk Food Store in Waynesburg, Kentucky

I set out to find a Bulk Food Store this past weekend. My favorite, Yoder's in Preachersville, KY had been closed the last few trips over from Richmond. I drove to my old favorite and was glad to see they had reopened as a discount grocery. The family operating it pointed me in the direction of Ottenheim in Waynesburg. What a gorgeous drive through beautiful rural farm country!

The Ottenheim Country Store

The store is located at 5920 Highway 643 in Waynesburg, Ky in between Hwy 27 and Hwy 150. There is no phone or electric. The lights were hanging oil lanterns. The fridge runs on a generator and was well stocked with cheeses and fresh eggs. I was not disappointed! The owners bought out the Kitchen Surplus Store in Preachersville and have lots of kitchen goodies and toys too.

I spent $107 and came home with lots of goodies. Will make the trip again in a few months.
